Elizabeth Newcomer is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Crescent City Stage, which she launched with her husband, Executive Director Michael Newcomer, in 2020.

A New Orleans native, Elizabeth trained at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts — where she studied at the Atlantic Theater Company Acting School and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting — before earning her M.F.A. in Theatre from UC San Diego. She went on to originate the role of Kat in the Off-Broadway world premiere of Sea of Tranquility at the Atlantic Theater Company, a striking early marker of a career defined by serious, story-driven work. Her theatre, film, and television career flourished across twelve years in New York and three in California, including a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast for Black Panther.

Like many who grow up in New Orleans, she eventually felt the pull of home. Returning in 2014, she revived the Drama program at Isidore Newman School — dormant since Hurricane Katrina — growing enrollment and producing two full productions each year as director and producer.

With CCS, Elizabeth has brought together every dimension of her work — as artist, educator, and producer — guided by a belief that theatre, at its best, is an act of radical connection. That through story, creativity, and shared catharsis, we remember we are not alone, and we learn to understand one another more deeply.
