Michael A. Newcomer co-founded Crescent City Stage in 2020 and has served as its Executive Director since the organization's inception, overseeing all management, administration, and operations. He has led CCS's organizational development and fundraising efforts to build a sustainable model in service of the company's core mission and has brought that mission onstage as well, most recently directing Primary Trust (2026) and Tiny Beautiful Things (2025). As an actor with CCS, Michael has appeared in Pantomime (2022), A Christmas Carol (2023 & 2024) and A Doll's House (2024).

Prior to co-founding CCS, Michael built a career spanning over 30 years working in theatre, film and television (and a few notable video games). He has worked at some of the country's preeminent institutions including The Old Globe, Alliance Theatre, A.C.T., South Coast Rep, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Virginia Stage, and others, establishing himself not only as an actor, but as a producer committed to creating theatre that reflects what is now the heart of CCS's mission: equitable wages for all.

A member of Actors' Equity Association for 28 years and SAG-AFTRA for 23, Michael is a long-standing advocate for fair representation and pay for creative artists. He has served in multiple leadership capacities in Union Governance including on the National Council for AEA, working alongside the Fair Wage Onstage contingent to shape the Union's future, the SAG-AFTRA New Orleans Local Board, and the New Orleans Area Liaison Committee, all with a commitment to advocating for equitable practices in the entertainment industry.

As a producer, scenic designer, and theatre-maker, Michael is passionate about creating spaces where artists and audiences alike feel inspired by the experience.
