MISSION, VISION + VALUES
MISSION
Crescent City Stage is New Orleans' Premiere Professional Theatre — producing edgy, thought-provoking contemporary work, developing the next generation of artists, and building a theatre culture that values the people who make the art.
VISION
A New Orleans where professional artists can have a career in the city they call home. Where theatre is part of what this city is known for. Not just music. Not just food. We're building a theatre town.
VALUES
-

ARTIST-FIRST
Every artist on a CCS production is paid as a professional. No stipends. No volunteers. No working for exposure. More than 60% of every production budget goes directly to the people on and behind the stage — union or not. We don't have a non-union rate. We have one rate.
-

EXCELLENCE
High standards, no shortcuts. The work should leave you a little different than when you arrived.
-

INTEGRITY
We do the work right or we don't do it. No apologizing for having standards.
-

REPRESENTATION
New Orleans is a diverse city. Its stories deserve to be told by and for all of its people. We cast and hire diversely — across race, gender, and sexuality — and we are committed to continuous learning in how we do that work.
-

EDUCATION + LEGACY
The work doesn't stop at the curtain call. We take the craft seriously — through training, mentorship, and education that cultivates the artists this city will be proud of for decades.
-

CIVIC COMMITMENT
Theatre is an economic engine and a cultural force. Every dollar that goes to a CCS artist stays in New Orleans — spent at local restaurants, paid toward local rent, reinvested in this community. When you support CCS, you're not just funding a show. You're funding a city.
Land Acknowledgment
Crescent City Stage makes its home at 6063 Magazine Street in New Orleans, on the ancestral lands of the Chitimacha, Choctaw, Houma, and other nations who have called this place home for thousands of years. We honor their presence, their history, and their ongoing connection to this land.
